Hi!
My name is Brigitte Schmidt and I am currently undertaking a double degree Business and Communications at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. I am majoring in Human Resources and Public Relations and even in my fourth and final year, I am still unsure of what I want to peruse, which is what prompted me to apply for this internship with the ASP at the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro.
A self confessed organisational freak and work-a-holic, the idea of taking two weeks away from my job and missing classes at uni was simply unheard of. But it was my determination to jump at every opportunity that pushed me to do it. And so I applied. I got selected. I broke the news to my boss, and the intensive two weeks began.
I have always told myself that human resources is what I want to do, but after this internship it has opened me to the world of PR and events, a world that I very much enjoyed.
Growing up on the Gold Coast, naturally, I grew up on the beach from a young age.
My Mum tells me I was a terror child, and the only place I was really happy was in the water. So naturally, I was thrown into anything water based, swimming, surf life saving, surfing, and a backyard pool was where you find me as a child.
And to tell you the truth, I still love the water and the ocean, so an internship at Snapper Rocks, spending days at the beautiful beaches down south, I think so!
I am 20 years old and still can’t decide what I want to do down the track. All I know is I want to take as many opportunities as I can, travel whenever I can, and know that I will find what I love, and commitment myself to it 100%.
